The town of Hotchkiss Colorado bears the family name. The ranch has been in the family for 100 years and lies entirely in Gunnison County and is located north and west of Paonia, CO. The ranch is 5000 acres and contiguous to thousands of BLM and National Forest ground. Set back five miles from the nearest gravel road, this ranch is remotely located in the heart of prime Elk hunting. The West Muddy river runs through the ranch and will produce some quality trout fishing.

First and foremost, this propertry provides for quality Elk hunting, Mule Deer, Bear, Bobcat and Coyote are also present on the ranch and are harvested yearly.

There is a very good trail system running throughout the ranch and continuing onto the surrounding forest and BLM. Four wheel drive pickups will get around parts of the ranch, although 4-wheel ATV's are strongly suggested. The many miles of trails means you can get back into prime hunting with little effort and back out with your game.

Corrals and fenced pasture are in place for horses, a tack room is located at the bunk house. Hay is provided by the RMSA. If horses are requested, please contact the RMSA and we will get things lined out for you.

The old time ranch house has been remodeled and set up to provide hunters a relaxed and very comfortable stay. Propane heat, hot water, lighting and kitchen are provided in the ranch house. Indoor plumbing including a bath and shower finish off the lower floor. Upstairs is the sleeping quarters, beds with mattresses are provided. A personal sleeping bag is required for each hunter.

A hanging area for Elk is provided and we are set up with several butchers in the area who do an excellent job on wild game.

This remote property is located in prime Elk country. We are confident this ranch will provide you with the type of Elk hunt you are truly searching for.
